Hors Champs 2023 Mu Blanc

Cyril Fhal makes an orange wine! Trust us, it's worth a try. With Muscat Petit Grains, an otherwise overly floral and perfumed variety can take on a whole new dimension when the juice is macerated with the skins, which have a fair amount of texture (as the grapes are quite small, and the skins get nicely tanned in the sun). The floral notes are less intense, and the wine gains some structure and mid-palate weight as a trade. As always with Cyril's wines, there's a mineral and taught acid streak through the finish. A delicious wine, all hipness aside.  -EL
