Amorotti 2023 Trebbiano d'Abruzzo
Amorotti's first official vintage was 2016, but they have been a winemaking family for over a century. While they still sell grapes in bulk, they save the best selections for their own label. The vines are certified organic and wine is spontaneously fermented. Valentini is their neighbor, and they helped them with logistics of getting started!
The Trebbiano is fermented and then aged in large untoasted Slavonian oak barrels for 1 year. Every vintage I've had of this wine shows their signature toasty reduction and the 2023 is no exception. Hay, dried herbs, sesame seeds, and yellow plums abound with lovely tension, acidity, and texture from lees aging.
