Jagini 2017 Zagersdorf

 Jagini is a project between friends Moric and Hannes Schuster (aka the St Laurent whisperer) from a single ancient Blaufrankisch vineyard in Zagersdorf on the Hungarian border just north of Sopron and west of Rust and the Lake Nieusedlersee. From 100 year old vines on dense clay and loam over limestone, the vines produce superconcentrated wines from only one or two bunches each. The 2017 is incredibly mineral and earthy with bright acididy and notes of tobacco, plummy fruit with plush tannins. Clocking in at a respectable 13.5%, the old adage of the iron fist in a velvet glove applies here! GH
