Bianchi 2016 Gattinara Vigneto Valferana Riserva

The 2016 from Bianchi shows dried cherries up front, then the leafy / woodsy notes start to pop out. After a few hours in a decanter, some more complex smoke, potpourri, mint, and ferrous minerality signature of Valferana really shines. A lick of fresh raspberry at the end brightens up the finish. This wine is definitely drinking well now, but there is enough structure to continue aging for many years. We enjoyed this bottle over the course of three days and it got better every day. 

Bianchi has sold the estate to the Paitin family of Barbaresco. I was able to secure the end of stock of this wine with the current importer. A lot is about to chage- labels, pricing, vinification, pricing, so this is one to definitely stock up on!
