Legou, Vincent 2023 Bourgogne HCN Blanc
With many Burgundy super-stars buying vineyards in the Hautes-Cotes and making beautiful, but still rather expensive wines, it's a pleasure to offer the wines of Vincent Legou, a native of the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. Vincent worked at DRC for almost ten years before taking over the 11 hectare estate from his parents in 2008, farming organically from the beginning and receiving organic certification in 2014. The 2023 Hautes Cotes de Nuits Blanc is from a 2 hectare parcel of Chardonnay on clay/limestone soils, facing east. Hand harvested and fermented with wild yeasts, aged in barrels for one year. The 2023 shows a lovely gold color with floral, ripe aromas of yellow fruits with a bit of honey, stone and spice. The palate is round and supple with a nice bitter mineral aspect beneath the ripe fruit. Delicious as an aperitif or with full flavored fish dishes, scallops, white meats and chicken with morels. Lovely wine, and an excellent value!
