Smith Haut-Lafitte 2016 Le Petit Haut-Lafitte Pessac-Leognan

"Blended at the same time as Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte, Le Petit Haut-Lafitte was crafted and aged with the same care as the estate’s Grand Vin; the entire winemaking process is exactly the same." The 2016 vintage is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, it delivers lovely structure, volume and smoothness with a very long, fresh finish that recalls the same aromatic palette as the nose, with notes of blackberry,blackcurrant, tobacco leaves, star anise and flint. A great vintage for this wine! (In organic farming since 2016,  with many biodynamic practices for nearly 10 years, and are still amazed at the benefits of medicinal herbs in preventing vine diseases. We grow our own herbs, including yarrow, horsetail and tansy, to make decoctions which we often spray onto the vines using horses.The vineyards span a privileged location, surrounded by woodland, orchards and beehives, which in turn enhances biodiversity. We recently planted trees in the heart of the vineyards to extend this commitment to nature to our wines.)
