Haut-Bages Liberal 2022 La Chapelle Pauillac

The lovely "second wine" of Chateau Haut-Bages Liberal in Pauillac is particularly delicious in 2022. The blend is 70% Cabernet and 30% Merlot from the estates younger vines, aged 40% in one-year barrels, 40% in concrete eggs and 20% in new barrels. "The 2022 La Chapelle de Haut-Bages Libéral is a gorgeous second wine. Dark red-toned fruit, rose petal, blood orange, mint and dried herbs are all finely knit. Supple and juicy, with plenty of complicating savoriness, La Chapelle is impressive" says Vinous. This will drink beautifully as a young wine, with the supple character of the 2022 vintage, but will age gracefully for 10 to 15 years.
