Exeterra 2022 Alsace Clos Rittersberg

This is the first vintage of this wine, a blend of equal parts Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, blended just after press and co-fermented with one year elevage in neutral Burgundy barrels. This shows a bit of flinty reduction on opening but opens up beautifully with a deep mineral core, great acid and a long, dry finish. It's a bit more linear and chiseled in style than the Rieslings, which show a bit more airy lift while this has a bit more cut. There's still plenty of body, with hints of rich fruit but perfectly balanced with great acidity and texture. It was absolutely singing on day two, with a lingering minerality that goes on forever. A beautiful wine that could age another five to ten years if you choose to put some away.
