L'Anglore 2022 Tavel Rose (Limit 1 per Customer)
From an old CSW note on the 2010 Tavel (back when Chambers Street and Ten Bells were the only two places in NYC to get L'Anglore): "Former bee-keeper Eric Pfifferling has become a great wine-maker, respected for his superb organic vineyard work as well as his careful vinifications without additives or adjustments." Those were the days, when the Tavel was $24 a bottle! Times have certainly changed, Eric's sons have taken the reigns at the winery, and this iconic wine is now sought after and rare in the US, though French people will never hesitate to tell you how much of it they drink in Paris! Spicy, deep, and dark with purple fruits, strawberries, and purple flowers on the nose and palate, this is the Tavel that defied expectations for the appellation. The blend is as follows: Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan, and Clairette, as is the case with many full-bodied Rhône wines, some white grapes are added to lighten the blend. Truly a mind-bending rosé wine that is lightly tannic, this could pass for a light red without trying too hard...
