El Piraña’s family has spent the last twenty plus years caring for their land organically and selling their grapes to the sherry houses. In 2011 they made a steady switch to creating their own must with their Palomino Fino and Moscatel grapes. Finally in 2023 they bottled their first vintage and here is the El Piraña Primario 2022! 98% Palomino Fino and 2% Moscatel. The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in stainless steel and then left to age for 8 months. This wine is a symbol of the hard work and grit it takes to stray from tradition. -Elena Angerman
The soils here are of the Lustrillo subtype, on average 30-50% chalk content, with gypsum, sand and clay.
