Ann Faure Wines 2024 Pinot Noir Stellenbosch
We recently tasted and loved this light and playful Pinot from Mick and Jeanine Craven, pioneers of the "new-school" low-intervention wine scene in South Africa. No frills, no oak, just a pretty and acid-driven bottle of Pinot that really delivers for $20!
Notes from the importer: "Ann Faure" is both a play on the word Amphora as well as Mick & Jeanine Craven’s middle names of their daughter and son respectively. This is a single-vineyard offering from the granitic hills of the Polkadraai. The bunches were hand-harvested and fermented whole-berry in concrete without any additions and aged in predominantly stainless-steel with a bit staying in concrete. It was bottled with a scant hit of SO2 and the result is a bright and buoyant Pinot Noir. The label is an artistic watercolor of the patchwork of vineyard blocks on the farm that this wine hails from.
