The Beautiful Burgundies of Domaine Rapet, Père et Fils!

2/15/2025

Since the 2005 vintage we have been happily offering the delicious Burgundies of Vincent Rapet, now joined by his son Robin. Not exactly young superstars, the family has been producing wine since 1765! Based in Pernand-Vergelesses, Rapet Père et Fils produces wines in Pernand-Vergelesses, Savigny-les-Beaune, Corton and Chorey-les-Beaune. While the grand crus here are superb - a 1985 Corton tasted in 2011 was in perfect condition, a gloriously complex and profound wine in it's prime - we are happy to offer a full range of these lovely wines, from the vibrant Bourgogne Rouge "En Bully" to the incomparable Corton-Charlemagne. The estate's great farming, (now organic) meticulous winemaking with minimal extraction and the unique terroirs of Corton, Pernand and Savigny create elegant, beautifully aromatic Burgundies that are a joy to drink, in their youth and after long-term aging. Pictured above is the beautiful 1er Cru "Sous Frétilles" (below the Virgin "Notre Dame de Bonne Espérance" overlooking Pernand) which produces one of the most scintillating and mineral of all white Burgundies. 2022 is an excellent vintage here as rains in late June saved the vines from the heat of the summer. "As to the wines, they're definitely ripe but not jammy, with good freshness, tension and terroir readability. I quite like them" said Robin Rapet, quoted in Burghound. Special mention should go to the "Ile des Vergelesses," one of the finest premier crus in Burgundy and of course to the superb Corton Grand Cru for long term cellaring. For drinking now the Bourgogne "En Bully" and the Pernand-Vergelesses "Les Belles Filles" offer gorgeous aromatics and beautiful sapid fruit in a fresh and relatively light-bodied style.
