Vollenweider 2024 Riesling Goldgrube Im Reiler Wurzelecht Trocken (Arrives 8/13) -Limit 1 per customer
From Importer Vom Boden: When possible, the estate bottles an “Im Reiler” wurzelecht – meaning sourced completely from the oldest, ungrafted vines in the vineyard, a living mosaic of vine ages, including plants well over 150 years old alongside others around 80 years of age. This aligns, more or less, with the “Aurum” bottling they’ve done in certain years in the past. I like Moritz’s writings here: “For this wine, only the very oldest vines are selected and vinified separately from the rest of the parcel. Some of these vines are so ancient that in certain years they produce no fruit at all, sustaining themselves with leaves alone; in other years, they may bear just a single cluster. These are truly primordial vines.”
