The Color Collector 2022 Björnson Vineyard Gamay Noir
The Björnson Vineyard Gamay comes from a cool climate site in Eola-Amity Hills and is the most structured of the three, with punchy fruit and juicy acidity framed by crunchy tannins and a long ethereal finish. The fruit covers the spectrum from bright cherry to blueberry and even subtle plum, shifting in the glass with each sip. There's tension, energy, freshness and depth, a precise and beautifully crafted Gamay that rivals any of the great cru Beaujolais albeit with a PNW coolness. Only one 500L barrel was made in 2022, amounting to about 50 cases in total. While delicious now this would be a fascinating one to put away for five years and see how it develops.
