Texier, Eric 2018 CDR Brezeme Pergaud Vieille Roussette
"Roussette" can mean Roussanne in the Northern Rhône, Altesse if you're in Bugey or even Marsanne, if you're in St. Peray. In Brézème, it's Roussanne, and Eric made, for the last time, this special cuvée from the oldest vines of Monsieur Pouchoulin, in a parcel of clay and limestone with large stones (galets roulés), Fabulously complex aromas, very ripe, slight oxidation but freshness as well, with citrus, yellow fruits, vanilla, almond. The palate is round, ripe and very elegant. "2018 is the penultimate vintage of Roussettes in Brézème. We ripped them out in the fall of 2019; the production had become too miniscule. It’s a vintage with a lot of matter, a discrete touch of oxidation that makes the wine destined for exciting, unorthodox food pairings. No added SO2 – 840 bottles and 18 magnums." -Eric Texier
