San Barnaba 2025 Verduno Pelaverga

San Barnaba has all of the ingredients to be an instant classic estate. Two brothers tasked with sourcing plots, Roberto & Giovanni Pasquero, teamed up with Francesco Rocca (son of Barbaresco legend Bruno Rocca) to make the wine. Fresh ideas & buoyant energy meet classic plots & old school equipment. Their wines feel silky, but not thin, and this Pelaverga is no exception. A tank sample from a CSW visit to the Serralunga based winery in April was already singing! Fragrant strawberry and raspberry, with delicate tannins framing the wine. Aging is all in concrete, a vessel they love for its ability to retain purity of fruit while still allowing micro-oxygenation.
