Ruth Lewandowski 2023 Stock Pot Grüner Veltliner
This is one of Evan's more unique wines, a skin-fermented Grüner Veltliner from Rancho Coda Vineyard in Sonoma. It was born out of Evan's love of the variety of styles and expressions Grüner can take on, particularly when macerated with the skins. While in the past it has been even more extreme with its dense and savory elements, Evan has dialed it back just a bit this year, with destemmed grapes seeing about two weeks maceration. It's still savory but more in a white pepper, herbal way, with great lift and freshness. The label is an homage to Grandma's stock pot, evoking the savory almost "broth-like" quality the wine can take on. It's a delicious and deeply complex side of Grüner that would pair perfectly with roasted or grilled chicken or pork.
