Roddolo, Flavio 2018 Dolcetto d'Alba

Roddolo is a man of patience in his Bricco Appiani cellar outside of Monforte, farming there his whole life, never chemically treating the vines, fermenting spontaneously, not clarifying or filtering, and doing long aging. His wines are contemplative and calming and worth your time and attention. 

This Dolcetto is aged in stainless steel, and I was shocked to learn that beccause it really reads like a barrel aged wine. Deeply soulful with forest floor, truffle, almond skins, and dried lavendar with a bit of Flavio's signature acidity lifting everything from getting too heavy. This is an exquisite wine that reminds one of nothing else, Flavio's style is unmistakably his alone.
