Puro Rofe 2023 Lanzarote Blanco 'Rofe'
Puro Rofe is a fascinating and delicious white from Lanzarote in the Canary Islands. Primarily Malvasia Volcanica (70%) with Listan Blanco (20%) and Diego, from 60-100 year-old vines on black volcanic soils. Aging is under a year in tank and neutral French and Austrian barrels. We are fans of this wine for the distinct texture, mid-palate weight, and long finish. It's also noteworthy that the wine does not exhibit the expected reductive notes that many whites (and reds) from the volcanic soils of the Canary Islands often have. If you've been on the fence about Canary whites after having a few too many reductive whites, this is your welcome back to the type of wine that got you into Canary wines in the first place, or a great introduction for those who are unacquainted.
