Pépière 2024 Muscadet Sevre et Maine sur Lie La Pépie
100% Melon de Bourgogne. Classic Muscadet, primarily from granite soils with a small percentage on gneiss. The core of the "La Pépie" Sur Lie bottling is the 10-hectare heart of the Pépière estate, which is part of the Clisson cru in the tiny commune of Pépière near the winery; there is also a significant percentage of their cru Château Thébaud fruit. Farming is certified-organic or Biodynamic and the harvest is by hand. 2024 was a tough vintage in the Pays Nantais and throughout the Loire, with rain and mildew most of the year and a bit of late sunshine. Yields were tiny, but the small quantity of wine produced at Pépière was indeed very good and will be much appreciated by lovers of crisp, racy Muscadet with firm acidity. The wine shows vibrant aromas of dried pear, apple, citrus peel, white pepper and stone. The palate is lean, more stone than fruit, with citrus, anise and saline mineral flavors, ending with firm, refreshing acidity. Not much of the 2024 is left, so grab some now...
