Mildiani Family Winery 2017 Saperavi Cuvee Speciale
Saperavi, Georgia’s most famous indigenous red grape, is known for its incredible character, as well as for its highly pigmented juice. It makes characterful wines of dark, opaque color; in fact, the name “Saperavi” translates as “to dye”. It comes from old vines grown in the Kakheti region in south-eastern Georgia. This Saperavi was wildly fermented in old French oak barrels and aged in new oak for 12 months. It was further matured in the bottle for 7 years. It is a deep and complex wine with plenty of ripe tannins, ample freshness and a long finish. With a gorgeous deep ruby color, it offers lush aromas of fresh and dry berries, dark chocolate. Exquisite notes of cedar, smoke, leather and game enhance the experience on the nose and on the palate. Pairing with lamb, game, venison and mushroom dishes.
