Marie Rocher 2022 Les Passantes Rouge

Marie Rocher is part of a new wave of young winemakers in the Loire et Cher sub-region of the greater Loire Valley, who have benefited from the tutelage and support of "old-timers" in the area. This delicious Gamay from a warmer, more concentrated vintage shows a black cherry profile, with rich and supple mid-palate and very smooth tannins. It's still Gamay, so it's by no means a full-bodied wine, but it's also not a "glou-glou" (light, juicy, low tannin) style. Fans of Gamay that has a little meat on the bone will be very happy with this bottle, especially once it's breathed for an hour or two. -EL
