Prieto Picudo, much like its fellow native varietal to Leon, Albarín, is known for its aromatic intensity, thick-skins, and good natural acidity. After destemming, the wine is fermented with native yeasts before being pressed into neutral barrel for 4 months. Winemaker Noelia de Paz favors minimal extraction, and the resulting wine has a seriously inviting bouquet of dried roses and lush red fruit, lifted by great acidity and bolstered by lots of tannin.
