From the Contrada Caselle within the municipality of Milo on the Eastern slope of Etna. Caselle is considered a Grand Cru site for Carricante and Imbris certainly delivers. The vines are over 100 years old and sit at about 900 meters of elevation. Aged for 18 months in stainless steel and another 24 months in bottle, classifying this as a Superiore. Imbris means rain in Latin, a reference to the humid winds on the Eastern slope of Etna.
This wine reminds me of the depth, concentration and patisserie notes of a Coteaux Champenoise. Imbris has a bit more body and texture than Ante, with even more acidity and that oxidative finish typical of Etna Bianco. Lemon curd and sea salt.
