Dumien-Serrette is a happily old-fashioned estate in Cornas with 1.5 hectares in the Patou vineyard, which has primarily granitic soils; the remainder, .3 hectares, is located in Les Savaux. The vines in Patou date back to the 1920’s, with some even exceeding 100 years old. In 2021 50% of the grapes were de-stemmed. Two 228-liter barrels of the 2021 "Cuvée Henri" were produced (in 4 year-old barrels) from vines in "Patou" all of which were over 100 years-old. This brilliant wine will need time! "... the nose has a smoky oak top, cassis-blue fruit, cooked mulberry within. The palate has a free run style, chocolate from the oak, the oak rather on top, inner crunch from the stems. It has a naked style, is furnished with busy juice, needs time to settle it raw nature, carries flashes of freshness all through, is a wine of drive, a bit complicated just now, with a late menthol effect. It will gain in gras, so wait. 600 b, two casks this year. Drink from 2029 until 2050-2055." drinkrhone
