Brand, Philippe NV Solera VIII Blanc
This is another fascinating wine from Philippe and Blandine, a blend of wines from vintages going back to 2015. From the 2015 vintage is all Pinot Blanc, from 2016 Sylvaner, 2017 was a blend of equal parts Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc, Riesling in 2018, Macerated Muscat in 2019 and Auxerrois with maceration in 2020. It's made in a perpetual solera style, where with each bottling some new fresh wine is added to keep the cycle going. There's a lot going on here, with some orchard fruit, hints of citrus and a hearty herbaceousness. A deep mineral streak holds it together on the palate, with precise acidity and a hint of tannin. It's a singular, contemplative wine that is great now but will age further if you decide to put some away.
