Bourg, Mickael 2022 Cornas

Mickaël Bourg is a native of the Northern Rhone, growing up amongst the vines and rugged terrain of Cornas. He worked as a mechanic before apprenticing with Matthieu Barret and eventually starting his own winery in 2006. He works just over 2.5 hectares, spread out over several parcels. Everything is done by hand according to biodynamic principals, with very minimal or no added sulfur. His 2022 Cornas is dark and expressive, with layers of spice, deep Syrah fruit and a bit of olive on the nose that explode from the glass. Despite the massive nose, it's remarkably restrained on the palate, with great balance and freshness. Easy to enjoy now, this will continue to age another 5-10 years or more.
