Bonnefond 2021 Cote-Rotie "Cote Rozier"

Patrick and Christophe Bonnefond make very pure, concentrated wines (both Condrieu and Côte-Rôtie) with the top cuvées, Rochains and Côte Rozier, both adjoining La Landonne on either side, built for long aging. The 2021 is from S-E facing schist on 1.2 ha on Côte Rozier looking at the Rhône. "dark red; the nose is just getting together, shows salt, crushed nutshells, pings of quite sturdy blue fruit, a fest of lead pencil. The palate extends carefully with oak channels, salted drive, has vintage freshness right there, blood notes towards the finish into a good grippy close. This has very good nerve.
