Bastide Blanche 2022 Bandol "Estagnol"

Bastide Blanche, one of the few organic domains in Bandol, produces this beatiful wine from old vines of 94% Mourvedre and 6% Carignan. The wine is hand-harvested in multiple passes, with very low yields, fermented with wild yeasts and aged in old foudres.  The 2022 shows lush aromas of blackberry and plum, deep and floral with garrigue, bitter chocalate and citrus. The palate shows ripe red currrant, blackberry and kirsh liqueur, with a beautiful texture and cool firm acidity that continues in the long finish with black fruits and saline minerals. Serve this lovely Bandol now with duck breast, grilled steak, lamb tagine or cellar for ten to fifteen years.
