Amevive 2023 Syrah Ibarra-Young Vineyard

The Syrah is part of the original plantings at Ibarra-Young, planted in 1971 and farmed organically since 1993. The vines are own-rooted in sandy loam soils and produce small dense clusters, harvested in three passes to add layers of complexity and balance. All of the grapes are fermented with whole clusters for about 16 to 23 days, with a gentle touch to avoid heavy extraction. It shows beautiful plush dark fruit with a nice menthol lift, integrated tannins and great acidity that suggest long aging potential. If you like Northern Rhone, cool-climate Syrah this is a must-try especially in the superb 2023 vintage!
