Lafouge, Jean et Gilles 2023 Meursault Les Meix Chavaux

Les Meix Chavaux is located beneath Les Luchets and adjacent to Les Chevalières. Lafouge's vines are very old, planted in calcareous clay producing Meursault with textbook richness and minerality. "The Lafouge family’s parcel of vines in this superb lieu dit are very, very old and celebrated their ninety-fifth birthdays in 2023! The most famous bottling of Meix Chavaux is of course Jean-Marc Roulot’s version, but to my palate, no one makes a finer example than Gilles Lafouge. His 2023 is a stunning young wine, revealing a deep and complex bouquet of fresh lime, pear, almond, a beautiful base of chalky minerality, crème pâtissière, apple blossoms and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and racy, with a truly superb core of fruit, fine mineral drive, laser-like focus and a very long, well balanced and vibrant finish.
