Dumien Serrette 2022 Cornas "Patou"
Dumien Serrette is a happily old-fashioned estate in Cornas with 1.5 hectares in the Patou vineyard, which has primarily granitic soils; the remainder, .3 hectares, is located in Les Savaux. The vines in Patou date back to the 1920’s, with some even exceeding 100 years old. Tasted from a 4 yr François 228-litre cask "full red; good lift, bouncv fruit on the nose, has inky notes, iron-blood, mixed herbs, can get into good shape, organise. The palate opens firmly, is well fuelled, grounded, a de la terre Cornas, thick, bright juice on the inside, and a liberal fruit display that criss-crosses it late on. It’s grippy, ferrous with vintage cladding-depth, late concentration, develops a lot of late tannin. From 2029, drink over the next 30 years." - drinkrhone
