You may have seen an iteration of this wine in the past when it was labeled as Passetoutgrain. In 2018 he changed this as he believed it was too generic, he chose the name Pourpre (purple) in reference to the wines deep purplish hue. The wine is a field blend of approximately 50/50 Gamay and Pinot Noir from vines planted between 1971-2001.
Whole-cluster, fermented with ambient yeast. Three to four pigeages in total then aged in 10% new oak barrels for 12 to 18 months.
