Kogl 2019 Ehrenhausen Morillon
Located less than a mile north of the Slovenian border, third generation Tamara Kogl took over the family winery and converted the vineyards to organic after earning a degree from the Silberberg School of Viticulture in Leibniz and interning with Franz Hirtzberger in the Wachau. After seeing good results, she then converted to biodynamics in 2019 despite the extra manual work due to the super steep slopes and abundant rain. Her "mountain wine" morillon (chardonnay), as she calls it, is aburst with white and yellow stone fruits as well as a silver like minerality from the sandy limestone soils with a vivid freshness. An absolute joy for warmer weather picnics and beach bonfire clambakes. GH
