Terre des Chardons 2016 Costieres de Nimes "Chardon Marie"

The 2016 "Chardon-Marie" is 100% Syrah grown on a tiny plot of very deep galet stone and silex soils, in organic and Biodynamic agriculture since 2002. This is a fascinating wine at almost ten years old - still remarkably fresh upon opening, with dark fruit and savory umami aromatics. There's a meaty intensity that contrasts well with the elegant, refined palate. The tannins are integrated and perfectly balanced with enough acidity to provide lift while still exhibiting a silky smooth texture. As it opens up even more savory notes come out. It's drinking beautifully now and would be a perfect accompaniment to grilled lamb or stews, just in time for fall weather!
