Prager 2023 Riesling Steinreigl

"Steinriegl is only planted to Riesling and is Prager’s only vineyard west of Weißenkirchen. The exceptionally steep, southwest-facing site has a cool mesoclimate due to its proximity to the forest, and its soil is a unique “kalksilikatmarmor,” a limestone silicate marble rarely found elsewhere in the Wachau". Hailing from four terraces at 300 meters with lots of chalk in the soil. In 2023 , only a federspiel was produced due to the hail and hence reduced yields. It shines as a flinty, citrusy example of great purity, ringing clear as a bell. Breathtaking! GH
