Gardunha Sul 2022 Primeiras Gotas Corricao Tinto
Winemaker Andre Duque Lourenço is running a one man show out of his family estate in Beira Interior. Beira Interior is located on the eastern side of Portugal bordering Spain. Corriçao is the local name for this agricultural region in the valley of Bran De Luna. The grapes in this wine are from both this valley and the land surrounding the estate which is host to many cherry trees. With the infusion of cherry trees on the estate the flavor profile incorporates those tart and fresh cherry characteristics. Only 6000 bottles of this wine are available. Andre Lourenço emphasizes the small scale of this vineyard and his goal to make “true” wines that are authentic to his family’s estate and the surrounding terroir. 55% Rufete, 25% Carrega Burros, 10% Marufo, 10% Alfrochiero. Fermentation is in stainless steel, with 25% aging in Chestnut and Portuguese 300L oak barrels.
