Goiset, Pierre 2025 VdF Grande Falaise

"Grande Falaise" is an incredibly delicious lighter style of Merlot on granit in Maisdon-sur-Sevre (near Pepiere). The vines sit on a steep slope, a rarity in Muscadet, planted in 2014 on the granite terroir of Chateau-Thébaud. This plot has been farmed organically since 2019, using biodynamic practices. It sees a 5-day infusion style maceration without punch-downs or pourovers, giving it a bright and fresh profile with a great combination of pure fruit and some earthy spice. With aeration, the wine shifts toward notes of ripe, almost jammy fruit, enriched by nuances of licorice and pepper. It's delicious with a slight chill, great for summer cookouts with grilled meats, bold but also refreshing and lifted. Try it with Boudin Noir with caramelized apples and crushed potatoes – Duck breast with cherries – Thin-crust porcini mushroom tart!!
