Jousset, Lise et Bertrand 2022 Vin de France Menu Pineau

The Lise and Betrand Jousset 2022 Menu Pineau (aka Arbois or Orbois) is a balanced and beautiful expression of this unusual grape, complete with enigmatic label by Michel Tolmer. A probable native of the Loire, similar to Meslier according to some and sharing some characteristics with Savagnin, the grape has generally low acidity but quite distinctive sharp aromas and flavors of bitter citrus, dried herbs, exotic fruits and white flowers. This 2022 version is a unique and intriguing wine showing a pale gold/bronze color with aromas of hazelnut, white peach, quince, kiwi, fresh herbs and citrus. The palate is round and supple with firm acidity and mineral flavors under white fruits, citrus earth and anise. The long finish features white peach, citrus peel, minerals and firm acidity.
