Bonhomme, Pierre-Olivier 2022 Thésée Sauvignon Blanc

A Chambers Street Wines exclusive, brought in by the fine folks at Louis/Dressner/McKenna! Fresh and easy Sauvignon Blanc from Pierre-Olivier Bonhomme. Thésée is a small commune in the Loire-et-Cher department, famous for its gallo-Roman ruins (hence the name Thésée, from Theseus, a Greek and Roman mythological character). Just across the Cher river from the beloved Clos Roche Blanche estate, Pierre-O sources Sauvignon Blanc for this cheerful white wine. We tasted this with Pierre-O in France and loved it - I liked it better than the VDF Sauvignon, which to me had a bit softer profile and perhaps a gram more residual sugar (though still dry). Thésée was the first wine they poured in an epic 17 wine tasting, shown first because it is the most fresh and easy-going of the whites. Though the word simple could be used, it's truly a wine with complexity and depth, that happens to also be wonderfully easy-drinking, easy-going Sauvignon Blanc with true Loire Valley profile. No grapefruit or overt floral aromatics.
