Baudry 2021 Chinon La Croix Boissée

As Matthew Baudry says "2021 was a difficult year, but the berries benefited from moderate rains at the end of the season, with lots of sunshine in late September and early October. The wines are supple and fruit-forward with lovely colors -  2021 is a very well-balanced Loire-style vintage, the wines are generous and may probably be enjoyed before the more solar recent years."  The 2021 Croix Boissée is definitely a lighter, more fragrant and old-fashioned Chinon in style, without the weight of the 2018 - 2020, but offering pure fruit and beautiful terroir expression. "The 2021 has an undeniably charming perfume, with smoky and peppery black fruits, complicated by threads of sage and rosemary. A silky palate follows, modestly textured, supple and perfumed like the nose, underpinned by a saline grip of tannins. Long and savoury, this feels like a success in this vintage, the quality and character of the terroir coming through." Wine Doctor
