Čotar 2016 Vino Rosso Frizzante Črna

The Čotar family recommends drinking this wine with fried smelt. I imagine it works well with many fried foods, snacks, aperitivi. The grape here is 100% Teran (known as Terrano in Italy), a grape indigenous to The Carso with thick skins and bold dark fruit notes. While it can make powerful wines, as a Frizzante there is a good amount of freshness behind the darker notes with plum, blackberry, smoke, and that iron note coming through from the iron rich topsoil with limestone below. So fun to drink a 10 year old bubble!
