I am not going to even attempt to hide my excitement today to be able to offer this lineup of wines from Domaine Forey. For years I have been a fan of these wines and since starting here at Chambers Street Wines I never believed I would get enough quantity to offer them out on our email blast. But today that all changes! I'm not entirely sure why, but these wines seem to have always been somewhat off the radar of many Burgundy drinkers. Even with some of the best real estate in Burgundy and often lower pricing then their neighbors, they only more recently gained acclaim. Now, as their star rises, they have slowly become harder to come by, which makes this all even more meaningful for me to write.  

Regis Forey has been at the helm of his family’s domaine for over thirty years now and has made a reputation for creating soulful, precise Burgundies with incredible depth and concentration. In more recent years, Regis has begun to shift from 228-liter Burgundy barrels to 500-liter demi-muids, reducing the influence of oak on the wines. He also promotes a more gentle extraction, has increased the use of whole clusters, and greatly reduced his sulfur regimen. All this allows for more gentle, aromatic wines especially as vintages become increasingly riper. Today, Regis is working side by side with his son Quentin, who is part of all day-to-day operations and shares the same vision as his father for what they want Domaine Forey wines to be. 

The good news continues to come for this domaine, they had quite a large expansion of holdings for the 2023 season as Regis’ brother-in-law Jean-Michel Jacob of Domaine Lucien Jacob retired and Domaine Forey assumed ownership of many of his holdings. This brought the domaine from 9 to 12.5 hectares and added sites in Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, and Savigny-les-Beaune, making up 5 new wines in the lineup (three of which we have available today)! 

While there is enough Forey to offer here today, I must add that some bottlings are incredibly limited! As we approach the holiday season, allow these wines to grace your table or be the perfect gift for friends or family.
