Sandri, Elio (Cascina Disa) 2021 Langhe Nebbiolo

I thought this was impressive – and delicious. The Italian word is “agrume”, which (even though my Italian is pretty amateur) somehow always sounds more descriptive than our “citrus fruits”, but in any case the wine is redolent of citrus fruits, balsam, and clay. A couple of years in bottle will give it a chance to unwind more, but it’s quite irresistible now. The 2021 is silkier than past vintages with more red fruit and a bit of warm spice on the nose.
