Delrieu-Ducleux 2023 Le Jeau Rouge
Le Jeau Rouge is made with Grolleau and Cabernet Franc, grown on three small plots with different terroirs - schist, gravel and falun (rocks that are conglomerates of seashells). Whole clusters are foot-tred, with a short maceration, bottled without SO2. The 2023 is a delightful combination of glou-glou and terroir, showing a bright deep red color and aromas of raspberry, strawberry and cherry, very pure and fresh, with earth and white pepper. The palate is bright and juicy with a melange of sappy berry fruits with vibrant acidity and stony mineral flavors in the clean, refreshing finish. A great "food wine," it will accompany almost anything and will benefit from some time in the cellar. Serve cool and enjoy! (No added SO2, best consumed the day opened) David Lillie
