Newfound 2022 Grenache Placida Vineyard

This Grenache comes from the Placida Vineyard in the cooler southern part of the Russian River, where just an acre of Grenache is planted on well-draining gravel soils. The conditions allow for a long growing season, and the 2022 was picked on October 8th despite the generally warm vintage. It retains incredible acidity and lift, with soaring aromatics, bright cherry fruit, some orange peel and white pepper spice. The vinification includes 100% whole clusters with 25 days on the skins, then aged in concrete for 14 months. It's not overly extracted, showing purity, energy and tension - tremendously enjoyable in its youth but with a long life ahead of it.
