The second wine of Chateau Daugay, the 2022 Pavillon (Saint-Emilion Grand Cru) is primarily Merlot and is aged only in old barrels, giving a luscious young wine for early drinking, best 2026 - 2030. The "Pavillon" is from the estates younger vines in a parcel of sandy clay soils over limestone, It's plummy and deep and shows some darker fruit but with youthful energy, still structured but with a velvety texture and smooth tannins. There's some spice at the back end and the finish is long and unctuous. This is a great wine to drink now but could also age another five years with ease.
