Under the direction of Pierre Cazeneuve the quality of wine made at Château Paloumey only seems to get better, and this was recognised when the estate, which had been awarded Cru Bourgeois Supérieur status when the Cru Bourgeois Classification was reincarnated in 2020, was promoted to the rank of Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel in the 2025 reworking... this is unquestionably one of the best Cru Bourgeois wines in existence. Chateau Paloumey converted to organic farming in 2016 and obtained certification for the 2019 vintage. The estate is also practicing agroforestry with rows of trees replacing rows of vines in many parcels.  The 2021 shows "a rather charming nose of blackcurrant and bramble, with powdered chalk, a little touch of crystalline blackcurrant, and softly integrated tobacco and chalk perfume from the oak. The palate is delicious, savoury, dark, fresh and bright, with a juicy but substantial presence, and a frame of nicely integrated and tightly knit tannins, which persist in the finish. a rather charming nose of blackcurrant and bramble, with powdered chalk, a little touch of crystalline blackcurrant, and softly integrated tobacco and chalk perfume from the oak. (Thanks to the recent profile of the estate in "The Wine Doctor")
