Beck-Hartweg 2023 Alsace Riesling Dambach

This Riesling comes from three plots around Dambach-La-Ville, all with similar granitic sandy and stony soils. Grapes are pressed and ferment naturally in old oak casks before being bottled unfiltered and with no added sulfites. It's a dry expression with nice freshness and lift, subtle fruit and a sleek mineral core that doesn't come across as being overly sharp. There's a light, airy quality that is a nice contrast to some of the lazer-like dry Rieslings we all still love but can find a bit more challenging - this is easy to enjoy and still has structure to stand alongside a variety of dishes, while offering complexity and strength.
