Valle Reale 2017 Vigneto di Popoli Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

2017 was a cool vintage in Abruzzo, giving us this single vineyard Montepulciano with its sleek, chieseled, and stony profile. These are the estate's oldest vines planted in the 1950's on soils rich in chalk, clay and pebbles. The wine spends 5 years aging in large tonneaux, followed by a few years of bottle aging. The specifc clone of Montepulciano is called 'Valle Peligna' with smaller berries and compact bunches which thrive in this cooler zone of Abruzzo. 12.5% abv.
